The following link… http://goo.gl/GOZp… is an article on SI’s website about a basketball player from Georgetown who was just this week diagnosed with [type 1] diabetes. Readers of this site will know why this is near to my heart. I hope Austin Freeman can gain some control and continue to do well, both for his team and himself.
What’s interesting is that while I was already interested from a sports perspective, I became emotionally invested in the cross-country skiing competition in the Olympics, especially after discovering the story of Kris Freeman, a member of Team USA who is also a type 1 diabetic (which, coincidentally caused him trouble in his races). And I can’t close this post without mentioning Jay Cutler.
